#Transformation Tuesday

So recently, I have been feeling  a bit bored with my hair. The blonde was fading and while I did get a haircut in the beginning of July, it wasn't enough to satisfy my need to change. I wanted to dye my hair darker. I decided to dye it using box dyes, instead of going to a salon, because the color I wanted wasn't anything crazy and is a lot cheaper.

Anyway, I decided to use John Frieda Precision Foam Color in 3VR Deep Cherry Brown. I used 2 of them because I have a lot and thick hair, so one box isn't enough. I think they carry this brand at most drugstores and can always find it at online. I recommend buying it at online, because the color selection might be limited in stores. I bought mine at local Target and there was only 3 or 4 different colors available (there are 26 different shades available at Target website).

I had my sister help me apply this product, however, it is certainly possible to do it on your own. My sister actually dyed her hair using this product (she used different shade) on her own and it came out terrific!

After I dyed my hair, I had an impulse to get bangs. Last October, I got bangs for first time since elementary school and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. After that, I am more often to getting bangs. However, I simply can't just cut my own bangs. I thought it is a waste of money to go to a salon just to cut bangs, so I asked my friend, who cuts her own bang all the time to cut it for me. She came over to my house today and we did the deed. I think it turned out well and I am very satisfied with the result.

What do you think of my new hair? Have you recently changed up your hair? What's your thoughts on bangs?

Review: E.L.F. Gotta Glow Lip Tint

Recently, I was browsing E.L.F.'s website when they had one of their free shipping no minimum deal. I actually haven't browsed their website in really long time and noticed lot of changes. Anyway, I saw that they came out with a lip product that will create a personalized shade of pink based on the chemistry of individual's chemistry. Immediately, I thought that the idea reminds me of mood ring. I used to be obessed with those mood ring, necklace, etc in elementary and middle school. I mean, who wasn't? I, of course, had to pick it up! I have been using it for couple days, and decided to share my thoughts on it.

Currently, I think this product is only sold on E.L.F's website (http://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/lips/lip_balm/gotta_glow_lip_tint) and perhaps their store in NYC. It retails for $6, which isn't a bad price. However, keep in mind that their moisturizing lipstick retails for $3.

As for packing, it is in a clear tube and I don't like it. I also feel like the cap doesn't close properly, even though, I did encounter problem with it yet. It just doesn't feel like it is secured, you know? I prefer the sleek black packaging they have for their moisturizing lipstick.

The actual product it self looks like a pink lip balm. The area that touched my lip turns a more vibrant and darker shade of pink as show above.

It gives off quite a shine when I swatch it on my wrists. The shade is a gorgeous soft pink.

However, on my lips the product goes on very sheer. It goes on very sheer soft pink on my lips. It goes on with some shine, but it isn't too much. I read/see other reviews, and for them, they said it left a stain even after the shine wears off. However, for me that did not happen. Basically, the product only lasts about an hour or so on my lips with no staining effect. It almost immediately comes off if I drink or eat anything after the application. Also, I am not really fan of how sheer it goes on my lips.

Final thoughts:
Do I feel like I wasted $6? Not necessarily. I feel like this is something easy for me to quickly swipe on my lips and leave. It will work perfectly for 'no makeup makeup' look, in my opinion. However, I do wish that it gave off a different shade of pink on me, or at least had the staining effect that others experienced. But, maybe there is something about my lips that is making it work differently? I wouldn't discourage others from trying this product because it is inexpensive and is a fun product to try and it may work for you, since I have seen many people loving this product. Also, most of other products that promises to do the same (Dior Lip Glow, It Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi, etc) tend to be much more expensive.

What do you think of this product? Would you be trying it out? Did you already try it out? How was your experience. Please Leave me a comment below!

No More Youtube?

Today, I have an announcement to make.
Some of you might know that when I started this blog, I really wanted to start a YouTube channel. And a little over a year ago, I did start a YouTube channel. Although, I haven't been very consistent with videos, I did try my hands at it. However, I found that making, editing and uploading videos are just not my thing. I found myself not enjoying the process of editing and uploading videos. I was ok with filming myself, but the time it took trying to set it up, and edit the video didn't appeal to me at all. So, over the couple of weeks, I have thought about it and I decided to STOP my channel. However, I'll be continuing my blog. I have decided that I will focus on this blog ONLY. However, I might occasionally post some videos on my channel. But, they will always be a supplement to a post.

This blog will still be beauty oriented. I'll be talking about makeup and fashion. I'll be reviewing and trying products and sharing my looks. I want to try posting some celebrity inspired makeup and other more extravagant looks. However, they probably won't be a step by step tutorial or anything like that. There probably will just be a few pictures of finished look. I also want to post my outfits of the day post and posts about how I like to style things.

Aside from makeup and fashion, I'll be sharing some of my life on this blog. My adventures with friends, family, food. I'll also be sharing my thoughts on some books, music, movies and etc. Most importantly, I'll be sharing my thoughts on some of the current issues that catches my eye.

Thanks for reading this long post and I hope you will come back for future posts!

XOXO

Jisu

July Birchbox 2015

Hi, Guys!
It's been over a week since I last posted.
I have been working extra hours last week and didn't get much sleep.
I have been having trouble sleeping recently.
I hope your past week was a lot better than mine.

Anyway, I wanted to share my July Birchbox with you guys!

For those of you who don't know, Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription service. It is a $10 a month and delivers to US and Canada. They sent about 4-5 deluxe or sometimes full size product! (Check out Birchbox here: https://www.birchbox.com/invite/nj956)

Here is a pic of my July Birchbox:

Products I received:

  • Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
  • COOLA Classic SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face
  • Dr.Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant
  • Benefit They're Real Mascara
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Venezia
Overall, this month's box was a bit disappointing for me.
The only product I was excited about is the Stila Liquid Lipstick.
The rest are all take it or leave it kind of products.

Check out my video for more info on each products:

Daily Bits:

  • I have been feeling dizzy all day yesterday and today as well. I don't know but my health hasn't been up to par recently. Maybe a visit to the doctors is due?
  • I am thinking about getting braces because my dentist has been recommend them to me. Granted I have to save a lot for it, since my insurance probably won't cover it.
  • I don't know what it is, but I have been obessed with the green grapes :)

Yay or Nay: Pond's Cold Cleansing Cream

Hi, Guys!

I watched Magic Mike XXL today!
I mostly went to see Channing Tatum's body and it did not disappoint :)
Also, the move theater had such comfortable seats, which is great!
One weird thing was that there were a lot more guys, especially middle aged man, watching the movie.

Anyway, today I decided to do a review of a Pond's Cold Cleansing Cream.

It is a very affordable product.
It retails for about $5 at Target. (Check it out here)

However, to cut to the chase, I would not recommend this product.
It does a decent job at removing my face makeup, but doesn't really remove my mascaras. I used a similar product by Nature Republic and that did remove my mascara, so I wasn't impressed by this product. Also, the total deal breaker for me is that I pick up a hair chemical scent from this product. However, the weird thing is that my mom and my sister doesn't pick up any scent from this product, even though they are using it too. However, the scent is way too strong for me to keep using this product.

You can watch my review for more detail:

Have you guys considered using this product? Did you guys like it?

I hope you found this review helpful!

New Hair & June 2015 Favorites!

Hi, Guys!
So guess what?
I cut my hair today !
My hair length was till my boob.
Now it's a little past my shoulder and I am super happy with how it turned out.

I also did something else to my hair after I filmed my June Favorites Video.
However, I am not going to say what it is yet, because I want to explain the backstory behind it first.

Anyway, I want to talk about my June Favorites.
I just can't believe half of 2015 is gone already.
June wasn't a great or terrible month. It was a month of relaxation for me.
How was your June?

Here's a list of my June Favorites:

Song Favorites:
Selena Gomez - Good For You
Sam Hunt - Take Your Time
Jana Kramer - Love
                   I Got The Boy

Watch my video for details of each products:

What was your favorites for June? What do you think of my June favorites? Have you tried any of the products I mentioned?

Daily Bits:
  • I am going to go watch Magic Mike XXL tomorrow! I watched the first one before, and I wasn't super into the story. However, I love Channing Tatum so I have to go see this one too!
  • I think I have found a place to go to for soondae (Korean sausage)! There just wasn't a good place to go to for a while, ever since my favorite place closed down. However, I tried a new place today and it was sooooooo good! Even my sister liked it, and she doesn't even like soondae.
  • While, I was removing my makeup today, I found a little bump on my eyeball. That sounds weird and I have no idea why I have a bump there. I am not sure if I should go to the eye doctor about it. What do you guys think?

Ipsy June 2015!

Hi, Guys!
How have you guys been?
NYC has been having some rain these days.
It has been very humid and disgusting.
How is the weather like in your area?

Anyway, I have decided that I am no longer going to be sharing Ipsy and Birchbox together.
Instead, I'll be sharing them separately.
And today, I am finally sharing what I received in Ipsy this month.
(Curious about Birchbox? Don't worry! That post will be up early next week!)

For those of you who don't know, Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service. It is $10 a month and each month they sent 4-5 deluxe or full size products. It is a great way to try new and different products!

Ipsy: http://www.ipsy.com/r/1ahv?sid=ipsypoints&cid=general

  • Key West Aloe Mango Moisturizing Lotion
  • SheaMoisture Shea Butter Lip Crayon in Sarah

Review: Garnier Clean Plus Sensitive Skin Makeup Removing Cleanser Lotion

Hi, Guys!
Today, I have a review on the new makeup removing product from Garnier.
I have been using Garnier Clean Plus Sensitive Skin Makeup Removing Cleanser for almost a month now. I have a pretty solid thoughts on it and I thought I'll share my view with you guys.

Pros:

  • It really is gentle as it claims. Would recommend for people with sensitive skin.
  • It is cheap. It retails for about $6 at Walmart.com
Cons:
  • It doesn't remove eye makeup as it claims.
  • Double cleansing necessary. It leaves the skin feeling slippery otherwise.
Final thought:
It's definitely a product that won't hurt your wallet to give it a try. I would definitely recommend this product to someone with a sensitive skin. I would probably repurchase this product sometime in the future.

Find the product here:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Garnier-Clean-Sensitive-Skin-Makeup-Removing-Lotion-Cleanser-5-fl-oz/41126913

Watch my video:

I was actually sent this product from Cosmopolitan Latina Magazine. I am not Latina (I am Korean), but I am subscribed to Cosmopolitan and they sometimes send an issue of the Cosmopolitan Latina along with the regular Cosmopolitan. I think they were collecting thoughts on the product.

Daily Bits:

  • Omg I went to Ssinnim's (씬님) meet and greet today at YouTube Space in NY. She is a Korean beauty youtuber (for those of you who are not familiar with her). She was amazing! Her channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Hines382
  • I also met another Korean beauty youtuber there. Her name is Sunny and she looks like a doll! Her channel:  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxM21Vv4bWq106MxIPvrGQw/featured
  • I also filmed a video getting ready for the meet and greet, so hopefully that will go up sometime next week. Though, I wasn't super happy with the makeup.
  • While I was waiting for a train after the meet up, I encounter a most annoying group of tourist ever! They were talking very loudly, singing something, and making baby noises. Also, two people from the group were playing with my hair. I mean, who plays with stranger's hair?

Unboxing: Walmart Beauty Box Spring 2015

Hi, Guys!

Today, I am sharing the content of my Walmart Beauty Box for Spring 2015.
Walmart Beauty Box is a subscription box from Walmart. It is relatively new and is delivered every season (4 times a year). The box itself cost nothing, but the shipping is $5. Basically, the box is $5.
Check out the box here: https://beautybox.walmart.com/

Inside the box:
  • Essence Ultimate Omega Repair & Moisture Shampoo (Travel Size) - I never heard or seen anything about this brand, so I was surprised to see this brand in the box.
  • Essence Ultimate Omega Repair & Moisture Conditioner (Travel Size)
  • Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser (Sample Size) - I am running very low on my current facial cleanser, so I am glad for this product. I can get at least couple of use out of it before I have time to pick up a new facial cleanser. Though, I never tried a facial cleanser from Neutrogena before.
  • Dove Go Fresh Nutrium Moisture in Mandarin & Tiare Flower Scent (Travel Size) - This body wash smells really good. I love anything citrus scent, so I am in love with it !
  • Rimmel London Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara in 001 Black (Full Size) - I haven't tried too many Rimmel mascara, so this is a good addition to the box for me. I probably won't open it for a while though, since I have way too many mascaras opened right now.
  • Lady Gaga Fame Perfume (Sample Size) - Perfume samples are not my favorite to get in these type of boxes, because I tend to not use them. This one smells pretty nice though.
That was it for actual products in this box. I got a different coupons for makeup and body and hair care. Some of these coupons included foil packets or texture samples.

Overall Thoughts:
Overall, I thought this box wasn't a bad deal for just $5. The Rimmel mascara itself probably covers the cost of the box. However, one thing that I am not happy about this service, is that so far the three boxes they delivered included a sample of shampoo and conditioner. I wish they stopped sending a sample of shampoo and conditioner and included something else. Also, I think this season's box didn't have any one thing that won me over the box.

Daily Bits:
  • I went for  a brain MRI yesterday. It was one of the weirdest medical exam I had so far. The noise that the machines makes is so nerve wracking.
  • I finally got my hands on two of Rimmel Provocalips and I have been loving it!
  • My left ring fingernail has been weird ever since the infection. I hate how it looks with a nail polish on.
  • I am planning to dye my hair within 2 weeks. The only thing is that I am not sure what color I want.

Review: Pura D'or Shampoo, Conditioner & Oil

Hi, Guys !
It's been a while since I had written any post here. I have been feeling a bit down and schoolwork has been overwhelming me these days.

Anyway, today I'll be reviewing a shampoo, conditioner and oil from a brand called Pura D'or. I had these products for about a month now, so I feel like I can really share my thoughts on these.

pura d'or Premium Organic Argan Oil Based Hair Loss Prevention Therapy Shampoo

Claims:

  • Prevents Hair Loss
  • Strengths Hair
  • Add Volume
  • All Natural and Organic
  • Vitamins for Hair Growth
  • Paraben, SLS, and Gluten free
  • 12 DHT Blockers
My thoughts:
  • I did not really notice any result from this shampoo. Recently, I have been losing more hair than before, so I was hoping for some result. However, I was left disappointed.
  • The shampoo doesn't lather up much. I like shampoo that lather up a lot, so I didn't like the fact that it barely later ups.
  • No strong scent.
  • Will not purchase
pura d'or Premium Organic Argan Oil Based Conditioner, Lavender Vanilla

Claims:
  • 99% Vegetable based ingredients
  • Manage Frizz
  • Enhances Shine
  • Argan Oil Based
  • Paraben, Sulfate, Gluten free
My Thoughts:
  • I did not notice any change in my hair after using this product.
  • The scent of lavender vanilla lasts quite some time. I did not find the scent offensive at all.
  • I probably will not purchase this either.
Pure and Organic Argan Oil

Claims:
  • Diminishes Wrinkles
  • Stimulate Skin Cells
  • Reduces Appearance of Scaring and Stretch Marks
  • Creates Softer Smooth Skin
  • Reliefs for Eczema and Psoriasis
  • Restores Nutrient Content to Skin Cells
  • Helps Repair Damaged Hair
My Thoughts:
  • There is no noticeable scent, at least for me.
  • It makes my face feel super smooth. It has made into my skin care routine.
  • However, it doesn't do much for my hair. I have really damaged hair due to frequent coloring. My hair texture is very rough and tons and tons of split ends.
I think this will be a brand and products for you if you are looking for cruelty free, all natural hair stuff. The products rage around $25-$35. They are not a horrible products. Even though, I didn't see much result with the shampoo or the conditioner, that is usually the case with any shampoo and conditioner I use. I usually just choose them based on the scent, since I usually don't see any result from any of them anyway. (Wow I feel like that sentence have way to many 'any' in it!). However, I do really like the argan oil from this brand.

My Go To Make Up!

Hi, Guys!
I fee like it's been forever since I posted on the blog for some reason.
I have been busy cleaning my room recently.
It was very messy and disorganized, but now it's starting to come along.
I still need to organize my clothing, but I think other than that, it's coming along.
My plan is to organize my clothes today and work on organizing my photos on my phone, and factory reset it. My phone has been spazzing lately, and the Verizon people told me that it should be ok once I reset it.

Anyway, I wanted to share my go to makeup look.
This is the look that I always go back to if I don't know what I want to do that day.
However, I do switch up my look time to time, and I do try some looks that I am inspired by.

I am really happy with how this video turned out.
I know that YouTube is full of really amazing and talented people, but I am still learning makeup and editing.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video!
What are your go to makeup look?

Wisdom Teeth Removal Experience Day 1 & 2

Hi, Guys !
Yesterday, I had three of my wisdom teeth removed. I thought it would be nice to share my experience.

My appointment was at 2 pm yesterday, and was told to not drink or eat anything before the surgery. I wasn't as starving or thirsty as I expected before the surgery. They also made me take pregnancy test, even though I was sure I wasn't pregenat. However, they said it was a standard procedure for females, especially when it's been over 28 days since their last period.

Since, I had to get three of my wisdom teeth removed, I was sedated, as well as given local anesthesia in my mouth. I fell asleep very very fast, and by the time I was gaining some senses again, the whole procedure was done. Once I was up, they moved me to the resting area, from the surgery room, until the IV was complete. I was still very foggy from the anesthesia, so I was glad to be able to rest for a while. They discharged me when I woke up, and explained all the things I should avoid and do. I was also told that I wasn't bleeding much, which is good.

They prescribed me two different pain killers. One being Motrin, and the other being something stronger. I was also given some penicillin and some antibacterial mouthwash. I was also given irrigating syringe with an instruction to use it starting from Sunday. I was also given instructions on what type of food I should eat and a pamphlet with all the information.

After getting home, I drank lot of cold water, because I was so thirsty! I was getting hungry as well, but didn't feel like I could eat much. I basically just ate some vanilla favored ice cream and took some pain killers and fell asleep.

Today, when I woke up, I was really hungry. Also, my jaw was a little difficult to move. Though, my cheek wasn't swollen much. Basically, all I did today was eat some, sleep some, watch some YouTube, and repeat. I didn't do anything useful or anything. As for the food, I ate some hard boiled egg, porridge, yogurt, ice cream, and some ice coffee. I basically ate food that doesn't really require me to chew.

For me, the pain killers are really doing their job. I am not feeling much pain, but I do feel discomfort in my mouth. I especially feel discomfort in my throat, and it is a bit uncomfortable to swallow, even my spit. I brushed my teeth today and also used the mouthwash. I kinda feel like I am going to get bruises on my cheek, but since it's not even swollen much I am not sure.

So far, I am glad that the pain isn't too bad or anything. While I do feel some discomfort, it isn't unbearable. I am also glad that I was able to have the procedure while I am still on break from school. I have to go back for post operation check up on next Tuesday, but I think everything will be fine.

Did you have your wisdom teeth removed? If so, how was your experience? If not, will you be getting your wisdom teeth removed sometime in the future? Leave me a comment!

Daily Bits:

  • I am uploading a video on my Youtube channel right now! It's a What's In My Bag? video! I have been loving those videos recently, and I thought I would give that a try!
  • I am now part of a collab channel called Ourbeautyside! My first video there also went live today!
  • I am sooo hungry right now. I feel like I have been getting full quickly, but also have been getting hungry really quickly as well.

Movie Review: Ode To My Father (국제시장)

Hi, Guys !
I feel like I have been spending most of my winter break going to the dentist :(
This definitely makes me realize that I should take care of my teeth more!

Anyway, I had a movie date with my dad today.
We went to see a movie called Ode To My Father (국제시장).
It is a Korean movie and was released in Korea around middle of December.
However, it just released today here in United States.

Going into the movie, I did not really know about what the movie was about. I just knew that the movie was about fatherly love and how it talks about the life of a man who lived through Korean War, Vietnam War, etc. While this movie wasn't suspenseful or anything, it didn't feel like it was boring me throughout the two hours. The movie had many sad moments. I actually couldn't get through the movie without crying. When you think your tears stop coming, there are other scenes to get your eyes start flowing again.

The part that was most touching to me when the main character was writing to his wife and he said something along the lines of "I am glad that I went through the horrible Korean War, and that I experienced the terrible times at the German Mines, and that now I am living through the Vietnam War. I am glad to think I lived through it, and that my children won't have to". This was very touching and did made me think of what being a parent means. It is evident that to the main character, being the father, husband, and the leader of the family, means to giving up his dream, sacrificing himself for the sake of others.

Overall, I think this is a must see movie for a Korean. I am not saying that the whole world should watch it or anything, but if you have a Korean background you should watch it. I don't think people from other nationalities can quite relate to it, especially because the Korean War and the separation of families during that War plays a huge  role throughout the movie. Also, if you are around my age, then this movie is something that will make you appreciate or think about your grandparents generation.

Are you guys planning to watch this movie? Will you be interested in watching it? What other movies are you planning to watch? Please leave me a comment !

Review: Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

Hi, Guys !

The Body Shop has been one of my favorite store in 2014 and I have been buying lot of things from there. In my recent purchase from The Body Shop, I got the Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. I actually didn't buy this particular product, it came as a free gift when I made the purchase.

Here's a look at the product:

I was really excited to try this product out. Even though, I didn't purchase this product, I did have high hope for this product, because it is from The Body Shop. However, it did not live up to my expectation. It removes eye makeup pretty well. When I am wearing really heavy liner or something, it does take awhile to remove everything, but other than that, it removes my eye makeup pretty quickly. It also doesn't have horrible scent or the scent isn't strong either. It does have a faint scent that you will pick up when you are using it. However, the deal breaker for me is that it is not gentle at all! It actually stings my eyes every time I use it. I mean, who wants to have teary eyes every time you remove your eye makeup? And I don't really have sensitive eyes or skins or anything like that, so I was very surprised that my eyes did not react well with this product, especially when it claims to be gentle!

So, this product is definitely not worth $15.50 price point. I really would not recommend this product, but maybe it will work for you. I haven't really seen any reviews or anything about this product, so maybe it's just that camomile doesn't work with me. I definitely won't stop you from using this product, but I will caution you about it.

That's all I have to say about this product. Have you guys tried this product? What were your thoughts? Please let me know in the comment below !
